Sponsor a Child - Change a Future
Our most popular donation program. Proyecto Laguna offers those who wish to have a more tangible impact a way to do so. Over 500 children registered for our programs can be sponsored, individually or as a sibling group. The cost to sponsor a child is only US $100 per child per year. When you sponsor a child, that child will receive additional, direct support as a result of your donation. Your $100 donation will provide the child with all of the required school supplies for the year including a backpack, shoes and uniform. Additionally the donation will be used for health care and support for the child's teacher and classroom. Every dollar you donate will go very far in Nicaragua and 100% of the funds will be used directly to benefit the sponsored child.
For your donation, in addition to the benefit of knowing you are making a direct impact in improving a child's chance at a better life, you will receive a picture of the child and a letter that was written by him or her. You will also receive information on the child's family and the goals the child has set for the school year. It is a very nice and attractive package that you or the recipient will cherish for a lifetime.

Fund Raising Efforts - Students Love It!

We have many different options that other donors have used in the past that we would be happy to share with you. Fund raising is very popular with children groups and students. We have had Spanish classes use the fund raising efforts as a form of education within the classroom and with great success.
Some of the most interesting fund raisers have been the "Penny Wars" held by a school in California and two enterprising young girls in Washington State created and sold greeting cards, complete with their own label and brand! We have had other children sell lemonade at their own stand, the point is that it is done for a cause and benefits are gained by parties on both sides.
Adults can get in on the fun as well. We have the support of fund raising dinners, "Discover Nicaragua" events, work place challenges and even themed dinner / donation parties. We can provide power point presentations, printed materials and just about anything you may need to help you succeed.

We have several donors who make recurring donations to our programs and their employers matches their donations. This is more common than many people know and many companies have donor matching programs as part of their company policies.
Ask your employer and have your friends and families ask their employers if they offer this type of outreach support. Proyecto Laguna is familiar with the process, which generally includes completing some paperwork to prove our status as a registered US 501(c)(3) or NGO. We complete this paperwork for you and then we will also supplement it with the follow up paperwork required for each donation that is to be matched. Once the program is in place you do not need to do anything except make your donations, we will handle the rest.
The impact this has on our programs is tremendous! Imagine getting twice the support reach for every dollar donated, it makes us very happy and the benefits are doubled for the children and families in our programs.

Host an Event for Proyecto Laguna
What better way to raise money and awareness than through a party! In all seriousness though, some of our best fund raising efforts come in the form of dinner parties, brunches and hosted social events. No matter the size of the affair or event you wish to host the benefits can be incredible.
Proyecto Laguna can assist you with providing printed materials, subject matter, electronic information and planning a successful event. We have volunteer representatives who host events regularly and find great success in doing so. If timing and logistics are right we may even be able to arrange a representative from Proyecto Laguna to speak or be in attendance at your event.
Promoting your events through our newsletter and Recent Events section of the web site is also a great way to raise awareness and increase your attendance.
